Days like this are when I feel extra grateful to live by where I live. I shot this image of Rainbow Falls in July, 2023 before the Reds Meadow Road was open to the public. 

There were a lot of showers and thunderstorms around this day. I was going to hike out to another spot in the backcountry, but decided why not bike down to Devils Postpile and hike to Rainbow Falls since nobody else will be down there? 
 
I biked here from home, and arrived at the falls about 2 hours before sunset. A heavy cell moved overhead and I got drenched. It rained light to moderate the rest of the evening, with a rainbow coming in and out for over a half hour, which lasted all the way through sunset time, when I captured this image. If you look at the upper left part of the image, you can see the huge cloud of mist being kicked up buy the falls. This image takes "Rainbow Falls" quite literally.
