A strong summer thunderstorm drops substantial lightning on the east side of Mount San Jacinto in Palm Springs, CA.

I attempted to photograph lightning here in 2015. I did so successfully, but I was left desired to capture it even better, In 2019, I drove all the way to Arizona this evening only to be skunked. On my way home back on Interstate 10, I noticed some storm towers going up. I decided to return to these wind turbines at 1:30 AM just incase something happend, Sure enough, this thunderstorm developed and dropped prolific lightning exactly where I wanted it.

The reason I wanted to capture lightning over these was to symbolize raw, natural power. Much like wind is used to run these enormous wind turbines, the sky releases an incredibe amount of energy just per 1 strike of lightning. In fact, each strike can be as much as 5 times hotter than the surface of the sun.

In all, I feel blessed to have captured this image... somewhat accidentally so.
