Captured at Big Pine Lakes in the John Muir Wilderness This is a top 3 image of all time for me... an image I thought I could only dream of capturing.

I almost didn't shoot this morning. There were showers moving up the range from the south, and I was fairly certain it was going to be completely cloudy and raining at sunrise. But... I had to keep telling myself "you miss 100% of the shots you don't chase". So I got out of bed at 12:30AM, drove south, and hiked the 5 miles to this lake. As I approched, I could see the tiniest opening in the horizon, and it was raining at that time. I was still not feeling optimistic, but nonetheless, everything worked in my favor, and the "Range Of Light" showed its true self. Had sunrise been just a few minutes later, I may have not seen any light at all. The light and rainbow lasted 30 seconds. Truly the most spectacular 30 seconds I've ever witnessed.
